We are situated at the foot of Helderberg in the stunning Lourensford Estate.
We believe that A Montessori inspired education provide children with the means to respect themselves, each other and partake in healthly competition and cooperation. We encourage our children to develop a positive sense of self, high levels of respect and confidence. We also promote the intellectual development of the child and strong social skill development. A Montessori approach allows for a gentle balance between freedom as well as structured discipline that comes with an organised atmosphere.
We provide our kids with an holistic approach to learning and aim to develop the child from an early age to function in future as a confident and capable adult. It is well known that Montessori educated kids are better problem-solvers with the ability to make fast and correct choices, manage their time well and play nicely with others.
School Vision and Mission Statement
Our school vision statement is simple, to inspire a love of learning (life long.) We aim to achieve this in a safe and innovative environment and prepare children for the challenges of the future.
Our mission is to provide all our children with a fun and lively environment which meets the particular needs of the individual. Our Montessori education promotes the emotional, social, physical and intellectual advancements of all our children and we are committed to igniting their inner spirits. We have a loving, qualified and inspired staff compliment of teachers who are committed to helping each child love, learn and grow. We also encourage a sense of social responsibility in our children which we hope will remain with them as they enter adulthood.
Extra Murals and Culture
Our extra-curricula’s are specially formulated to complement our holistic approach to education. The children decide for themselves what extra mural activities they are interested in undertaking and thus are empowered to make their own decisions.
Our Cultural Program is undertaken one day a week and we offer the children activities such as Musical Theatre, Chess and our famous Kitchen Club. Furthermore, Newberry offers an annual theatre production which is taught to and rehearsed by the children during the 2nd and 3rd school terms. This production is then presented to the parents in our stunning amphitheatre.
Our after care service operates until 17H30 and is a fee which we charge per month for 12 months. This fee includes lunch and a snack for the aftercare students. Should parents arrive late to collect their children, a late fee will apply. With the exception of public holidays and 3 weeks over Christmas, Newberry House is open throughout the year.
