Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens is one of Cape Town’s most scenic and beautiful gardens in Cape Town, situated against the beautiful slopes of Table Mountain. Kirstenbosch Gardens are family friendly so ensure to bring your young one along for a truly magical day out in the open air. We strive to promote sustainability, conservation and appreciation of rich plant and animal life.
The Kirstenbosch Botanical gardens cover 36 hectares of lush green and contains protected mountainside natural forest and fynbos, as well as a range of animals and bird life.
The Botanical gardens also host a variety of art exhibitions, perfect for kids to learn about and appreciated the rich history of South Africa and the world. Exhibitions are both outdoor and indoor, with short and long term durations. We’ve had some fantastic dinosaur exhibitions in the gardens as well as animal sculpture exhibitions and displays commemorating the iconic late Nelson Mandela.
Another fantastic feature at the Botanical gardens is our Tree Canopy Walkway. This amazing steel and timber bridge takes you and your kids from the forest floor all the way through the trees and out above the canopy. It’s a simply fantastic experience for your children.
If you don’t come to the garden for a family picnic, we offer some great eats and treats at the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens as well. We have a fantastic tea room, Moyo Restaurant and Vida Cafe located on the premises.
